We all know that it is not always good to pop pimples. In fact, it is highly discouraged because when you pop pimples, there is a chance that you may cause infection to spread to other areas of the skin.
But sometimes, we wake up one morning and see a big pimple sitting on your face, staring back at our reflection in the mirror just when you need to be pretty and beautiful for a busy day ahead that entails you to meet and talk to a lot of important people. During this time, we feel the urge to pop pimples.
It is not really a taboo to pop pimples but if ever you are to do so, make sure you armed yourself with the right knowledge on how to do it safely, without causing further harm to your skin.
If you do not now how to pop pimples the right way, here are the steps you need to follow and strictly observed:
First, make sue you wash the skin where your pimples are. In fact, it is much better if you take a quick shower or wash your face with warm water first. This step will help your skin to soften and remove the make-up, dirt and other impurities in your skin. In addition, this step can help you to pop pimples easier and safer.
The next thing you need to do is make sure that the pimples you want to pop can really be popped; meaning, they must be on the surface of the skin. Whiteheads are the most common type of pimples that can be popped. Pustules, which look like whiteheads but are more severe, are more risky to pop than whiteheads. Pimples which are under the surface of the skin, those that are red and tender bumps, such as nodules and cysts must not be attempted to be popped. Popping these kinds of pimples can lead to serious infection and scarring on the skin.
If you are sure that the pimples you want to pop can be popped, break the pimple surface by poking it. For safety and cleanliness, do so using a needle that is ran over a flame or wiped with an alcohol to make sure that the needle is sterilized. After you have poked the pimple, gently squeeze it to force the pimple contents out. Squeezing deeper into the skin is not advisable as it may lead to further infection. Make sure you do this with your hands wrapped in tissue paper or toilet paper to prevent transfer of bacteria from your hands.
After succeeding with breaking the surface of the pimple, the contents of the pimple – dead skin cells, bacteria, dirt and other impurities – will burst out. Wipe them with clean tissue paper.
As for blackheads, getting rid of them is quite different from popping pimple zits. Removing blackheads does not involve popping them but rather, application of exfoliating masks or use of pore strips will do because this type of pimples are open to the air. On top of that, there are also blackhead remover tools that are abound in the market. You may use this but make sure you use a clean one.
